Choosing traditional braces is a fun way to straighten your smile. You’ll get to experiment with different ligature colors every month. Plus, the orthodontic device can be an added style accessory too! But while picking braces color is exciting, it can get a little challenging most of the time. That is why we at Hoffman Smiles are here to help you decide.
Colored ligatures can perfectly overpower the metal components of braces. Those who didn’t like the idea of looking like a ‘metal-mouth’ find ligatures beneficial. However, not all colors can complement your smile—so let us guide you, shall we?
Don’t be impetuous. You have to wear the same color of braces for four weeks. One wrong choice and you’ll have to suffer for a month. Consider these things during your selection process:
Some colors are just worthy of being avoided
There are two braces hues that we do not recommend: Yellow and white. These two colors can get stained easily. A mere consumption of curry, tomato sauce, grape juices, and other pigmented beverages can compromise the aesthetics of your braces big time. Yellow and white will not give your teeth a bright shade as well. Instead, they can make the pearly whites appear less white.
Be careful to mix and match
If you find single ligature colors monotonous, try to go for two! But remember, not all hues can work together. We suggest going back to the basics: make use of the color wheel. It is ideal in picking blue and orange as they ‘compliment’ each other. Pair green with red or purple with yellow and you’re good to go.
It’s okay to be low-key
Neutral colors can look discreet. The fact that they can go with what clothes you wear is a bonus too. Black, grey, silver, navy blue—they don’t fail.
Have a ‘skin test.’
The tone of your skin and the color of the braces should go hand in hand. To know if your chosen ligature will look nice on you, try to wear clothes with a hue similar to your preferred braces color. Ditch it if it doesn’t look good—but if it does, take the plunge.
It is a myth to say that traditional braces can dull the wearer’s overall appearance. With the proper braces color, you can make your smile a lot more aesthetically pleasing!
